Vermont Catamount Health
Catamount Health State-Sponsored Health Insurance Program
Catamount Health is part of Vermont’s Green Mountain Care program. Green Mountain Care is a series of state-sponsored programs designed to provide affordable, comprehensive coverage for all Vermonters. Catamount Health has specific provisions for those who get canned. The eligibility requirements are fairly straightforward:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are not eligible for Medicare, Medicaid, or Vermont Health Access
- You make at least $1,307/month (otherwise you qualify for a different Green Mountain Care program)

How It Works
The program is designed to give comprehensive coverage through one of two large plan providers: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont and MVP Health Care. Once you are enrolled, the plan is administered by one of those two providers. Most physicians in the state participate in this program. There is an eligibility screening tool on the Green Mountain Care Web site (click here). To apply, just download the application from the site or call 1-800-250-8427.
